About the Artist...
I think that what I enjoy the most about being an artist is that there are so many different materials to create with. I work in drawing, watercolor, pen & ink, colored pencil, and mural painting. While earning my B.A. at Cleveland State University, I had the opportunity to try out a broad range of materials in studio. Off-campus field work exposed me to new techniques amid a variety of inspiring settings. I am currently most prolific in creating gourd art, which allows me to draw, paint, carve, pyroengrave, and sculpt with a natural material that always provides a different size, shape, and color for every new piece I make.
As a northern Ohio artist, I have found plenty of inspiration in local landscapes. The Great Lakes region supports an impressive array of flora and fauna. Nearby cities also contain a colorful mix of cultural influence and artistic expression.
A profound influence on my artwork has developed from traveling to unfamiliar locations and experiencing diverse natural and cultural subjects, from the intense colors of the Caribbean to the texture of coastal Maine. Learning about the rich variety of artistic style among different cultures from around the world (and through time) has an influence on my own sense of design.
My on-line gallery contains images of my recent work, much of which is available for purchase. Custom orders are also welcome. I am currently developing craft kits based on my instructional workshops, since I enjoy encouraging creativity in others as well. Please browse the News?Events page for information on current events and upcoming show appearances.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy creating it!
